Although Ikea and furniture are now used synonymously since it is the furniture products Ikea is most famous. So from all Ikea furniture products there are, the Ikea wardrobe line will be sole focus of this article.
There is a wide range of Ikea wardrobe line out on the market. With the Ikea Pax line as one of the products that is most sought after. Pax wardrobes storage may cost you $90 to $900. The wardrobes with the smaller sizes are the inexpensive of all and great for people with smaller storage needs. The $900 worth Pax wardrobe is the largest and perfect for those in need of big storage space for their clothing collection or for simply storing their many items away. In addition, Ikea Pax wardrobes are painted with neutral colors like white, cream and even black.
There is also another popular choice of Ikea wardrobe line, the Mammut wardrobes which sell for a price of $220. It comes in red, pink and blue color options. Looking at the wardrobe may give you an impression of a door that opens to a new room. With the design and color based on cartoons, the wardrobe is very fitting for a child’s room especially little ladies. The size of Mammut wardrobes are not huge though just enough for one low price wardrobe. This wardrobe line is recently introduced by Ikea in their wardrobe range to the public, but has now garnered the attention of many and has been making a name.

Keeping Warm with an Extreme Weather Jacket
We all compare the weather this year to previous years and certainly in Britain both the winter and the summer have been milder as years go one. It can definitely be said that the weather is more extreme, summers have little in the way of sunshine and more downpours while this winter has seen a still ongoing cold snap where temperatures have dropped to below minus 20 in certain areas of north Scotland.
Keeping warmer is more of an issue this year. For heading outdoors you should be wearing an extreme weather jacket which will protect you in all weathers and ensure you will be fine should the temperature take another drop. There are many famous branded jackets like Mammut jackets that sport new and useful technologies such as windstopper and Gore Tex.
You will definitely feel the difference when heading outdoors with these types of outdoor jackets on. Go with a well known brand so you know you will be wearing a jacket that has been designed for winter sports such as skiing and low temperature conditions. Ski jacket makers and extreme weather manufacturers such as Mammut jackets will do a great job at trapping body heat inside keeping you that much warmer that other types of jackets.
Winter jackets will keep your body nice and warm but do remember to adequately protect other parts of your body. Your head is the most important part to keep you functioning properly, it’s important to buy adequate head protection, a warm hat such as a beanie.

Our First Ever Mammut Clothing Delivery
Following the incredible success we had last winter with their avalanche safety gear we’ve just taken delivery our our Autumn/Winter range of Mammut clothing. Mammut are one of the most innovative manufacturers in the ourdoor market with an ever evolving choice of fabrics and construction techniques. We’ve picked out a range of what we think is their most exciting ski touring and winter mountaineering gear. Here’s a few examples:
The Mammut Extreme Logan Jacket is perhaps the ultimate winter mountaineering hardshell. It is constructed from Gore Stretch Pro Shell which gives it the breathability you’d expect from Pro Shell but with tremendous freedom of movement and comfort. This makes it especially suitable for hard mixed and icefall climbing. The Logan Jacket also zips into the Extreme Logan Pant to give an incredibly weatherproof clothing system for the most challenging mountaineering environments.
Mammut Chalten Jacket
The Mammut Chalten Jacket is an incredibly innovative mountaineering and skiing hard shell. It is constructed from Schoeller’s new C_Change fabric which actually becomes more or less breathable depending on the temperature and how hard you’re working. What that means is that when you’re slogging into a route generating loads of heat the Chalten will breath incredibly well but then when you’re standing at a freezing belay the breathability will drop and trap heat against your skin. The jacket is also probably the toughest hard shell jacket we’ve eve seen with an almost softshell-like feel. Ideal for Scottish winter climbing and skiing.
Mammut Zip Long Sleeve All Year Baselayer
According to Stu who’s had one on test, the Mammut Zip Long Sleeve All Year is the best baselayer he’s ever used. It uses three different fabrics to offer you excellent breathability under the arms, wicking on the chest and back and great freedom of movement on the arms. This really is a great choice for year-round use but is especially suited to high output winter use: ski touring and winter walking.
There’s loads more in the full range including some great softshell pants and jackets and some interesting midlayers. If there’s anything else you want from them then we can special order it from them, let us know.

Mammut Miwa Down Jacket – Women’s.
There once was a sweet gal named Kya, and she spent many, many chilly nights in her tent while winter camping. Kya had everything she needed, but lacked the warmth of the Mammut Women’s Miwa Down Jacket. The 750-fill goose-down would have instantly quieted her shivers, so she could finally enjoy a few minutes outside and take in the breathtaking view of the stars. She’d always thought multiple layers were the way to go, but really all she needed was a comfortable down jacket that easily stowed away in its inner pocket
Mammut Stratus Hybrid Jacket - Women's
Carolyn doesn't even look the least bit winded as she casually strides up the skintrack wearing the Mammut Women's Stratus Hybrid Jacket. You, on the other hand, have sweat pouring down your back because you wore a midweight jacket without underam vents.

Mammut’s Chalten Jacket: Pinecone Effect for temperature control
The Mammut Chalten jacket uses intelligent schoeller® c_change™ membrane that opens and closes like a pinecone according to the ambient temperature. The structure of the membrane opens at higher temperatures or at times of high activity in response to heat. This releases excess water vapour to the outside. The membrane closes at lower temperatures or when activity levels are low to conserve heat around the body, effectively preventing chills. The Chalten jacket provides protection against rain, snow and stormy weather making it the perfect jacket for all mountain/alpine activities.

Climbing equipment review: Mammut Stratus Flash Jacket
It’s probably been one of the coldest winters that most of us can remember, but nobody wants to let it get in the way of their climbing. Having said that, you might be standing around belaying your climbing partner, so you’re going to need something to keep you warm because these icy cold temperatures don’t seem to be leaving any time soon. An insulated jacket is a sound investment for anyone who spends time on the hill or in the mountains during the winter months.
The Stratus Flash Jacket is one of Mammut’s most popular pieces of winter clothing. It’s great for mountaineering, climbing, base-camp and expeditions. This jacket can be worn as a mid layer or as an outer layer, depending on the weather conditions. The insulated liner in the Stratus Flash is what really makes this jacket stand out from the rest.
Ajungilak insulation has been around since 1855 and it is has been used in sleeping bags for a long time. Know for its warmth and comfort, Ajungilak is a synthetic insulated fabric with hollow fibres. It’s lightweight and dries very quickly, which is what makes it a popular choice for those of us who live in the UK.
Insulation has always been a tricky one, until synthetic fabrics started being used. Down feather jackets have not been as popular in the UK as in the rest of Europe because of the wet weather here. It’s safe to say that most people dread the though of washing the big fluffy down jacket, just in case it never goes back to the same shape. Ajungilak is the complete opposite, as it stands up to heavy usage and it also washes much better than down and other synthetic fibre fillings. Warm, comfy, lightweight and washable, you couldn’t ask for much more!
As soon as you put this jacket on you feel like you are getting into a cosy sleeping bag. It is surprisingly light and does not feel bulky. The hood is helmet compatible and adjustable both horizontally and vertically. There are two side pockets with zips and one front pocket with a zip. There are also two large mesh pockets on the inside of this jacket, which will come in handy for stashing your goggles, gloves or balaclava. Sometimes you need to get things off fast and put them somewhere safe, you don’t always have time to sort out your backpack, so the mesh pockets are a great feature. If you want to put a waterproof shell over the top, you don’t need to worry about your sleeves riding up in the process because there are lycra thumb holes. The Stratus Flash has a slightly wide cut so that you can put it over a hard shell if the weather takes a turn for the worst and you need to get yourself warm quickly. It’s a very versatile piece of mountaineering clothing, and it would be an excellent addition to your winter kit. My boyfriend has got one and he loves it, I try and steal it when he’s not wearing it, but that’s not very often. In fact, the only time that he doesn’t wear it is when he’s wearing his Stratus Hybrid Jacket.

Mammut’s Felsturm Jacket Garners ISPO Outdoor Award at 2011 Show
Mammut’s Felsturm Jacket Garners ISPO Outdoor Award at 2011 Show
High praise for upcoming Eiger Extreme Collection and innovative design, materials and durability
Shelburne, VT (February 2nd, 2011) Mammut Sports Group, providers of high-quality Swiss gear and apparel is once again awarded an ISPO Outdoor Softgoods Award with the new Felsturm Jacket from the upcoming 2011 Eiger Extreme Collection. Numerous features contributed to the selection, including highest breathability, lightest weight, and a unique new zipper system that set the Mammut jacket apart from the competition in a hotly-contested category. The awards were announced on January 31st, 2011 in Munich, Germany, where the ISPO show opens on February 6th.
Utilizing Gore-Tex Active Shell®, the Felsturm Half Zip Jacket is setting a new standard for ultimate breathability and waterproofing with its ultra-light weight (297 grams in men’s large), and super packability. The Active Shell® fabric is 33% thinner and lighter than most waterproof/breathable fabrics. Mammut’s new zipper technology impressed judges as the Felsturm’s design bonds the zipper spiral directly to the fabric, eliminating the weight of tape and stitching. While originally designed for multi-pitch rockclimbing, the garment is clearly an excellent choice for backcountry skiing or light and fast alpinism due to its minimalist packing footprint with maximum protection and performance.
As one piece of the 2011-12 Eiger Extreme Collection, The Felsturm typifies the attention to optimal functionality and flawless quality that is evident throughout a line targeted at core and heavy users, as well as top alpinists. The 24 piece line includes outerwear, gloves, footwear and backpacks that all merchandise into one high-end collection. It will be limited in availability, and debuts women’s specific pieces to Mammut’s most technical collection for the first time.
“We went to our key fabric suppliers, and said, ‘give us the most advanced products you have’,” explained Bill Supple, CEO of Mammut North America. “From there, the collection was built on features and athlete feedback to include solutions for existing outerwear misgivings. We think we really got this right, it looks and performs beyond our criteria-meeting the demands of top climbers, alpinists and skiers in a variety of climates”
“We’re excited about the ISPO award here in the US, as technical features and fabrics are a huge part of Mammut’s heritage and largely what we’re known for here,” said Mike Welch, North American Sales and Marketing Director for Mammut Sports Group USA. “As we celebrate Mammut’s 150th anniversary next year, the Eiger Extreme Collection exemplifies what we have taken from years of testing and improving tirelessly with premium fabrics and designers.”
After a very successful reception for the Eiger Extreme Collection at the 2011 Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City last month, Welch added “The ISPO award further solidifies our position as innovators in outerwear, but also in providers of the some of the best quality technical apparel available to our consumer base.”

Mammut Robella Jacket - Women's
The sharp Mammut Women's Robella Jacket is a tough-as-nails jacket packed with features that'll draw plenty of compliments in the lift line. You won't even have to worry about the wind nipping through when you race down the slopes, thanks to its windproof fabric.
Mammut Robella Jacket review
Often women have to sacrifice either fashion or function when buying a winter jacket. The Mammut Robella jacket offers both. The Robella is perfect for skiing, boarding, and most outdoor winter activities, but its sleek design will have you reaching for it for trips to the grocery store, commuting to work, walking the dog, or anything that takes you out the front door on a cold day.
The Robella is warm, with high-quality 80g fill, a detachable and stretchable snow skirt, Lycra hand gaiters, and a removable hood. On below-freezing days when most people want to hole-up indoors, a base layer and fleece or down layer under the Robella were plenty warm enough.
The seams are tight and zippers reinforced. The Mammut Robella could be worn just over skivvies at the top of a mountain, and you would not feel a bit of wind. When it's just not cold enough for flurries and it's raining, the Robella jacket beads water, and the adjustable hood and gaiters keep the coat in place and ensure that not an inch of your upper body gets wet.
The articulated elbows make the jacket ideal for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. Soft, stretchy hand gaiters keep all but your fingertips warm. Worn under gloves, the hand gaiters ensure no wind or snow makes it to your wrists.
Climbing a frozen waterfall or skinning up the side of a mountain? Unzip your pits to cool. Taking off the skins and heading back down the mountain? Snap up your elastic snow skirt.
Its rubbery detailing on the elastic will ensure the detachable skirt stays in place and winter doesn't get in. Pair this jacket with the matching pants and the snow skirt snaps into the pant waistband for extra powder protection.
The Mammut Robella spoils skiers. It has an easy-access wrist pocket for your ski pass, a few bills, and lip balm. The hood is big enough to fit over a helmet, adjusts in the back, and detaches from the coat by a zipper.
The jacket has three additional external pockets for cell phones, cameras, and snacks. A big internal pocket with an attached cleaning cloth can fit goggles and mp3 player. An opening and loop near keeps your earbuds organized and in place. All the zippers have grippy pull tabs, so your gloves don't need removed to zip or unzip. Your gloves can be attached to a clip at your waistband when they do need to be removed. The fit is flattering, feminine and the jacket comes in a color combos that will turn heads: deep purple with lime-green accents, black with blue, and bright blue with blue.

Mammut Alagna Jacket Review
With the Free Skier in mind, Mammut introduces the Alagna jacket this season with a bang. This jacket is a lightly insulated Gore-Tex softshell that is nice by itself on warmer spring ski days yet has plenty of room for warmer base layers and 2nd layers for colder days. I’ve been testing out the Mammut Alagna Jacket over the past few months at Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail, and although bright blue and bright green might not have been my first choice for colors, I quickly warmed up to them. Whether I was on this slopes with this jacket or around town, I received a number of compliments on the look. These days, looking good on the mountain seems to be almost as important as skill on the mountain these days.
As far as functionality goes for the Mammut Alagna Jacket, there are a few things worth noting. For starters, the Alagna has water resistant pit zips that span about 18 inches on both sides. There are two zippers on each side to allow you to direct where you want the venting on the body. As with most pit zips, they are a little akward when trying to adjust them. For powder days, the Alagna has a removable powder skirt inside the jacket and there is also a cinch cord at the bottom of the jacket to help prevent snow from going up the jacket. The shoulders of the jacket have a small print on them that give a little more grip in case you want to wear a backpack. This way, the shoulder straps won’t slip as easily. The cuffs on the jacket have a sown in cuff with thumb holes. The sown in fabric is nice to keep snow and keep your wrist warm on cold days, but I didn’t really use the thumb holes. One of the cuffs has a zippered pocket for a pass as well.
The hood on the Mammut Alagna Jacket is helmet compatible and is also adjustable by a bungee cord system. I tested the hood out with a Smith and Salomon helmet and it fit just fine. There are two mesh pockets on the inside of the jacket where you can stash a goggles and a sandwich, but I wouldn’t put anything valuable in them as they do not zip. There are two zippered pockets on the outside of the jacket for more valuable things.
At the end of the day, I liked both the functionality and look of the Mammut Alagna Jacket. This jacket retails for $549 which I feel is a little expensive for what you are getting. Sometimes other companies charge a little extra because they are made in Canada or places where they have higher labor, but this jacket was made in China. If price isn’t important to you and you want to rock it out, be sure to take a look at the Alagna Jacket by Mammut.

Review: Mammut Stratus Hybrid Jacket
Last week, I test drove the Mammut Stratus Hybrid jacket during a week-long ice climbing adventure in the mountains of Colorado. Every day, from early morning until night, we searched for big icicles to climb, which meant long hours in very cold, wet conditions, with temperatures ranging from the teens to low 40s. This jacket kept me warm and dry, in a mix of precipitation – rain, ice, snow and slush, every day. Not only is the Stratus Hybrid powerfully windproof, it’s warm and rugged. I was positive it would rip or snag as I rubbed up on rough ice, snagged tree branches, perched against sharp rocks, but the jacket still looks brand new and it’s not even scratched.

The Mammut Ambler Hooded Jacket is a goose down expedition jacket that is designed for extreme use in high-alpine mountains. The box construction and the soft outer material results into a low packing volume. Extraordinary heat retention make it the perfect companion in extremely cold conditions.
